Determination of the roughness of rock discontinuities through photogrammetry
Main Article Content
Abstract
Cutting slopes and tunnels are examples of civil engineering structures whose stability assessment is complex when built-in rock, so in-depth studies must be undertaken. These structures are conditioned by the behavior of the rock mass, where discontinuities and their roughness play a critical role in determining the shear strength.
For this study, rock cores corresponding to a 100 m deep geotechnical survey at a zone known as “Ramal Camelinas” in the city of Morelia were used. A novel and low-cost technique based on photogrammetry was implemented, which allows obtaining more accurate contact areas of the surface to be used in the determination of the normal efforts.
