As a result of the water crisis experienced in the Metropolitan Area of Monterrey during 2022, a hydrological modelling was conducted to analyze the aquifer's water tables and establish likely causes of the issue. Climate, hydrometric, physiographic, hydrogeological, and extraction data were collected. Statistical methods were used to validate and complete climate and hydrometric data and calculate evapotranspiration. Hydrological models were set up and calibrated to obtain water tables. It was observed that the aquifer has shown signs of recovery in recent years, indicating that the problem is likely due to the growing demand caused by population increase and not only because of climate factors.
