Main Article Content
Abstract
Heat waves are a weather phenomenon with a great impact on society and the environment due to the risks it represents. This paper presents the analysis of heat waves in the city of Morelia, where in recent years there has been an increase in temperatures and this has affected different sectors. For the evaluation of heat waves, there are different types of criteria, based on the available information, the application of relative thresholds in a historical period was proposed, as well as the application of indices that allowed to characterize the heat waves, as well as estimate the degree of severity in the study area. It was observed that the municipality of Morelia is between a very low degree and a high degree of severity, with a medium to high degree in the southern area of the municipality. On the other hand, the central zone is at a very low to low degree, leaving the northern zone and in this case the city of Morelia at a high degree of severity. This contributes to knowledge about the areas with the highest incidence to establish mitigation or adaptation measures.
