Efecto hipolipemiante del extracto hexánico de flores de Stenocereus queretaroensis en ratas diabéticas
Main Article Content
Abstract
Diabetes is associated with dyslipidemia, which increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases, the leading cause of death worldwide. The use of medicinal plants is an excellent alternative due to their efficacy and minimal side effects. In this study, the hypolipidemic effect of the hexane extract of Stenocereus queretaroensis was investigated in diabetic rats. The major compound, Ergosta-5,24(28)-dien-3β-ol, was isolated and characterized by column chromatography and nuclear magnetic resonance, respectively. A decrease in serum and hepatic lipids was observed in the group treated with the extract, suggesting a hypolipidemic effect in diabetic rats and its potential therapeutic use in lipid-related complications associated with diabetes.
