Abstract

This work presents the thermodynamic evaluation of a solar-fossil fuel hybrid system. The system is made up of a hot water circuit to supply solar-fossil heat, an ORC with reheating to generate electric-ity and a domestic hot water (DHW) circuit. The hybrid system was evaluated and the developed models were solved using the EES soft-ware. The results indicate that the contribution of solar heat manages to increase the temperature of the hot water circuit by 5 oC, which represents an increase in energy viability. Furthermore, the results are highly attractive because the system achieves an overall efficien-cy of 62.12%, and an electrical and thermal supply in DHW for 266 and 2078 homes, respectively.
