Spatial analysis of flood risk through Geographic Information Systems: Case of the Hacienda-Margarita sector, Puebla

Abstract
This research exposes the spatial analysis through Geographic Information Systems (GIS) of natural and urban conditions of the flood risk in the Hacienda-Margarita sector in Puebla city. It aims to explain statical and geographic data processing through GIS technology, supporting by the social construction of risk theory and the systemic approach, in the modeling of the territory and the hydrological simulation to show the causes and impacts of the urban flooding. The results demonstrate the differences of the negative impacts of urban flooding in each of these urban settlements through comparative analysis. The conclusions raise the potential of GIS for detailed analysis that show the levels of risk and vulnerability in urban settlements.
