Industry 4.0 is the future of humankind digitizing educational, business and urban processes because every city will become a Smart City, nowadays the Smart City Rankings assess the quality of life with external factors: mobility, infrastructure and energy, but they don`t review the impact of the excessive use of technology such as Smartphone Addiction because many research studies indicate that it affects academic and work performance, producing negative emotional states. Neuroscience shows that habits such as gratitude, spirituality and mindfulness generate positive emotional states that prevent and reduce addictions, this work evaluates the impact of mindfulness in UPAEP university students. The results show a positive relationship between mindfulness and academic performance and a negative relationship with anxiety, depression and stress.
