Abstract

The war of Independence in New Spain and the formation of the Mexican sovereign state are still a broad field for historians. Here we address the commemorations that emanated from the act of independence, the institutionalization of civic festivities provoked political-ideological struggles between the leaders and spokesmen of the incipient political factions of the country these conflicts converged in what we call War of Dates, concept with which we will observe how two of the three powers of the new Nation, assumed the festive ritual to prosecute the feelings and emotions of citizens in order to mark the celebratory milestones.
