Abstract

The Turbio river basin has strong industrial and agricultural activity, both of which require large amounts of water. Water management must consider the needs of the population, economic activities, and the environment. The objective is to select and weight indicators to assess the basin's water security. A literature review is conducted to obtain a set of indicators grouped into the following dimensions: socioeconomic, environment, hydrometeorological phenomena, and water quality, and weighted using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). The values obtained indicate that the socioeconomic dimension is the most relevant with 0.34, followed by the environment with 0.33, then quality with 0.17, and phenomena with a value of 0.16.
