Abstract

The recent floods that have occurred in various regions of Mexico have caused significant economic losses. In developing regions, scenario modeling for early warning is limited by the spatial-temporal inconsistency of hydrometric and hydrological data. Combining hydrological models, geographic information systems, and hydraulic simulation is a key approach to analyzing and predicting flood events, especially in ungauged basins. This paper presents the combination of a hydrological model with traditional hydraulic simulation, combined with a hydraulic model using shallow water equations (SWE). The performance of the model was evaluated using R2 (0.927), NSE (0.678), RMSE (2.1), PBIAS (12.06), and F(2) (0.710) indicating acceptable performance of the model.
