Reflexión sobre conceptos relacionados con la recarga de acuíferos
Keywords:
Artificial recharge, Managed aquifer recharge, HydrogeologyAbstract
Aquifer recharge is key to the sustainable use of groundwater and to ensuring a global supply of fresh water. Since the 20th century, recharge projects have proliferated along with a variety of concepts such as AR, MAR, ASR, SAT, among others, sparking debate over their definitions. The aim of this article was to analyze the origin and evolution of these terms, observing that MAR predominates over AR in literature. It is concluded that there is no consensus on which term to use, as their application varies depending on professional perspectives, and many of the concepts are considered specific cases of MAR and AR, which are used interchangeably. The article also raises the potential benefit of unifying terminology to facilitate understanding and application.
