Abstract

This article describes some of the key challenges and opportunities for the growth and
development of the metal casting industry in Mexico, highlighting the advantages of Mexico as an
important international manufacturer of vehicles, which in turn, can be used to boost the domestic
foundry industry. This article also describes some of the most important innovations in the area of
foundry that have been made in recent years, highlighting the great amount of time, financial and
human resources required for its development. Therefore, the importance of the collaboration
between the industry, universities and research centers becomes essential to develop new
